I’m always a little miffed São Paulo Spring 2015 doesn’t get more attention. This may seem like a hilarious comment coming from someone who waited two weeks to post their favorite shows. In my defense, I poured over the shows but didn’t have the time to post anything on Ten6Twelve. Two weeks gives you a lot of time to think about things: why you love Brazil, why Brazilians do it better, how Brazilian designers have mastered the art of sex appeal… I don’t have philosophical answers to any of these questions [musings].
After following SPFW for a few years, I realize that all of my musings/philosophical questions seem to be true. Perhaps designing for warm and tropical climate gives a creative freedom other designers can’t and won’t experience. Perhaps Brazilians have a type of body love and appreciation they refuse to hide behind fabrics and embellishments. Or perhaps we are ignoring some of the best designs and designers because we simply prefer our American, British and French favorites. I’ll continue pondering, but until then I’m sharing some of my favorite collections from SPFW, including Animale. You’ll appreciate the subtle sexiness of previous seasons, and if you’re a lover of crop tops then rejoice, because this season has crop tops aplenty. This collection is gorgeous and you’ll want to plan a vacation immediately.
